Unspoken: Objects of Communication in the Victorian Age
April 3 – May 25, 2019

Spring exhibit that explores the unspoken communication of the Victorian Era when social interactions were limited by strict behavioral guidelines.
We explore the use of flowers to communicate affection, joy or displeasure; discover the subtle art of flirting through strategic use and placement of fans, gloves, and handkerchiefs. Sure to be a great conversation starter!
Available during regular tour times: Wednesday – Saturday, noon – 3 p.m. Admission charged.

HHM Guild presents: Backstairs at the Mansion: an in-depth look (and tour) of the servants at Hower House.

Program begins at 7 p.m.; please plan to arrive by 6:45 p.m.
Join us for an in-depth program on the social hierarchy of servants in 19th and early 20th century wealthy households. This program will be presented by Tine Hreno, who has been researching and leading our Backstairs [servant spaces] tours for the past 3 years.

HHM’s Artisan & Antiques Faire – at the Old Depot at Quaker Station

Plans are underway for our 21st annual fair with some new twists in the format! A rebranded and expanded event to benefit the programs of the Hower House Museum Guild. This is a juried show with a mix of artisans and antiques offerings. Quaker Station is located at 130 S. Broadway, Akron. Parking available in the Quaker parking lot. Guest admission: $6 at the door. Mother’s Day Breakfast Tea: Teacups & Tiaras
