Thursday Night Movies at the Northlawn Cinema
(at Hower House Museum):

Pack a picnic supper, blanket or chairs and join us for free, family-friendly outdoor movie nights on the [North] lawn; concessions available for sale.

New time: Gates open at 7:45 p.m.; movie begins at 8:15 p.m. Park in our lot or in nearby UA lots. Concession proceeds benefit the Carriage House fund.

Summer exhibit: Great Expectations: Fashion, Formality & Function

Warm weather ushers in another fabulous and informative summer exhibit featuring the exquisite Hower costume collection. Exploration of social customs and their influence on all aspects of day and evening wear. Available during regular tour times.


National Museum Day – free admission during tour times 12 noon until 3 p.m.

In observance of National Museum Day, enjoy self-guided tours of the Hower House Museum and its summer exhibit. This program presented in partnership with the Cummings Center for the History Psychology (CCHP) at The University of Akron.


Hower House Museum Guild presents: Music of a Bygone Era as performed by the talented Malyuk Sisters!
October 1, 2019 | 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Free to all current HHM Guild members (with current membership card); just $5 for non-members!  Please RSVP to 330.972.6909 if you plan to attend; limited seating! Please plan to arrive at least 15 minutes before our scheduled program starts. Free onsite parking; guests please enter through the front door. Cellar Door Store will be open at 6:30 p.m.


Special mini-exhibit
October 2 – 31, 2019
Based on Victorian authors who introduced the genre of the scary tales. We are calling this Sinister & Scary Stories and it will feature biographies of the authors and, if we can locate volumes from our own collection, some of the actual books.

The exhibit will be offered during our regular tour times: Wednesday – Saturday, noon until 3 p.m. We do charge admission: Adults $10; Senior Citizens, $8; students $2 with valid ID. Children 12 and under free with a paid adult admission.

Fall Vintage & Antiques Fair at Quaker Station

A Murder Mystery Tea

Time: 2 – 4 p.m.
In keeping with our sinister and scary themes in October, plan to attend our Murder Mystery Tea! Find out if Colonel Mustard or the Butler did it while enjoying an elegant tea spread complete with delectable scones, savories and sweets, accompanied by delicious hot tea, served up at the Hower House Museum. Sure to be an afternoon to remember! Join us, won’t you?

While you are here, enjoy a walk-through tour of the Hower House Museum, a peek into the Carriage House, and shopping in the Cellar Door Store.

Prepaid reservations: $34/adults and $23/children ages 8 – 12.

Holiday Wonderland – Self-guided tours of the Hower House Museum, December 22 festively attired for the holiday season and ready for our guests.
November 6 – December 22, 2019
Holiday tour times:
Wednesday – Saturday, noon – 3 p.m.; Holiday Sundays, 1– 4 p.m.
Admission fee charged. Season special: children 12 and under free with paid adult
admission. **Holiday season scheduled closings: 11/28 (Thanksgiving Day); we
will be open on 11/29-30; closed December 23-31.


Santa Breakfast

Time: 10AM-Noon

Did you know that one of Santa’s very favorite places to visit is the Hower House Museum? This family-friendly event includes a visit with Santa, a walk-through tour of the House, complete with decorations on all three floors, and shopping in the Cellar Door Store. Start working on your wish list!

The holiday celebration continues at the Hower House Museum! Delectable savories and sweets will be the order of the day for this most merry of tea events. Enjoy your food in the elegant surroundings of this historic Mansion, a walk-through tour of the festively-attired rooms, and shopping in the unique Cellar Door Store.
