Graduate Brass Quintet will present a Spring-themed concert
presented by Mark Dulin
Time: 7:00 pm
The program includes classical to Beatles; among the pieces featured are Canzona Bergamasca by Samuel Scheidt and Brass Quintet No. 3, op.7 by Victor Ewald to Lennon and McCartney’s Yesterday and Ob-Ba-Di. The performing students are graduate teaching assistants in each of the studios and are coached by Dr. Blaha, Assistant Professor of Tuba & Euphonium.

Performers: Evan Foltz is a second year graduate student studying the trumpet, from Lexington, OH and completed his undergraduate studies at Ohio Wesleyan University. Dillon Shidemantle is a first year graduate student studying the trumpet, from Conneautville, PA and completed his undergraduate studies at Mercyhurst College. Ben Hottensmith is a second year graduate student studying the French horn, from Brunswick, OH and completed his undergraduate studies at Kent State University. Christian Giunta is a second year graduate student studying the trombone, from Bronx, NY and completed his undergraduate studies at SUNY Fredonia. Nicholas Albanese is a first year graduate student studying the tuba, from Hopewell Junction, NY and completed his undergraduate studies at SUNY Fredonia.

For reservations call the Hower House at 330-972-6909 or e-mail Linda Bussey at Bussey@uakron.edu. Seating is limited. The cost is $15 per person, or $5 for students with a valid ID. The admission goes to The U of Akron School of Music Scholarship Fund and The Hower House Conservation Fund to conserve the collection of decorative arts. Guests are invited to stay for light refreshment and to tour the house.
Ticket price includes a self-guided tour of the Hower House Museum to view the Spring exhibit on view.  Limited seating.  Deadline for prepaid reservations:  April 18, 2016.

Create a precious memory while sharing elegant tea fare with Mom, Grandma, daughter, favorite cousin, and /or special friends.  Delicious tea, savories and sweets, a program, walk-through tour & shopping in the Cellar Door Store.
Limited seating with prepaid reservations; $32 adults/$22 children ages 8-12.

Docent Dialogues:  Queen Victoria’s Birthday Fun
Time:  10:00 am – 11:50 am
She started it!  We can trace our “Victorian roots” to HRH Victoria, who started it all!  Join in the fun for an informal, and informative session to learning more about Victorian culture and how Hower House fits into the picture!  (Despite the program name, you do not need to be a docent to attend!)  Open to all who are interested…just let us know if you plan to attend! Light refreshments; free event, however registration is recommended by May 9.
